My Style, Background & Affiliations

My Style

I am an eclectic, values-driven therapist who incorporates creative modalities, like art, writing, ecotherapy and dream interpretation, along with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR, and mindfulness (MSBR), into my work based upon each client’s needs. I am passionate and intuitive, sometimes interactive, and I bring my true self to my practice. I offer wisdom based on my varied life experience, as well as an affinity for political-social justice. My work is informed by feminism, my queer community, and my ethical vegan environmentalist perspective.

Feminist

Feminist-identified, I believe in a collaborative, egalitarian framework for therapy, and appreciate an eco-feminist point of view; connecting the dots between paternalistic exploitation and environmentalism.

Creative

As a visual woman influenced by art, film and literature; I relish exploring creativity in many forms with my clients. I strive to find beauty in the ordinary, and value the innate imaginative spirit in each of us.

Eco-therapy

Since I deeply value a connection to the earth and appreciate the healing power of nature, I blend elements of Eco-therapy into my practice. I believe that respect for the earth includes honoring all species, which I express as a vegan and animal rights advocate.

My Background

I have an MS in counseling and completed undergraduate work in Women Studies, creative writing and religious studies. I worked in recruiting and human resources where I trained managers in diversity and sexual harassment, which contributes to my understanding of workplace culture. And, I spent over 7 years doing career and academic counseling; coaching college students, baby boomers, professionals and job seekers. I am a California State Certified Domestic Violence Advocate.
